JP Morgan Chase

Location: United Kingdom

Sector: Fintech / Banking

Funding: Internal initiative

Stage: Digital bank launch — full greenfield build

A greenfield digital bank build inside JP Morgan. Brought in to design and deliver the hiring engine from scratch, embedded from day one through to full internal handover.

The Situation

  • JP Morgan was launching a digital bank in the UK

  • Chose not to use their internal hiring team; needed external execution capability with scale-up experience

  • No internal hiring engine in place to support tech build

  • Early hiring lacked structure, creating inefficiencies in building the right teams

  • 200+ technical hires required within 24 months

  • The employer brand wasn’t resonating with UK tech talent

Engagement

  • Embedded within the team to audit and create the hiring plan for scale

  • Reported directly to the CTO, then transitioned to the Head of Talent

  • Built structured process: role design, candidate flow, interview cadence, offer management

  • Delivered salary benchmarking and offer frameworks for engineering

  • Built and ran sourcing engine (50–100 profiles/day)

  • Supported the buildout of the internal Chase talent function and handed over on exit

Results

  • Hired 200+ engineers and product specialists across the UK

  • Internal talent function launched and operating independently post-handover

  • Supported a transition from FTC to permanent hires, contributing to a projected seven-figure cost reduction

  • Market-aligned compensation structure adopted across key roles

  • Dropout rates improved through ongoing iteration of process and candidate experience

  • Led DEI efforts, with 15% of hires from underrepresented groups across gender and ethnicity
